The following limits apply to common answer types and related settings.
Number and Decimal answers
| Answer format | What respondents can enter |
|---|---|
| Number | Whole numbers, positive or negative. Decimal points are not accepted. Commas and currency symbols are removed as the respondent types. |
| Decimal | Numbers with decimal places, positive or negative. Values are rounded to two decimal places (for example, 2.567 is stored as 2.57). Commas and currency symbols are removed. |
Use Decimal for currency amounts, percentages with decimals, or any value that is not a whole number. The Number answer does not have minimum or maximum settings. To restrict the range of values, add a validation (see Setting Up Validations).
Multiple Choice selections
A Multiple Choice question does not have a setting for the maximum number of selections. To limit selections, add an Error Validation. See How do I limit the number of options a respondent can select in a Multiple Choice question?
Answer tooltips
The answer ToolTip field (in the answer's Options) accepts plain text only. Formatting such as bold or line breaks is not supported, and any HTML entered is shown to the respondent as text. The tooltip is displayed left-aligned and wraps automatically.
Driver names
A driver name can be up to 150 characters. A longer name is not saved, so keep driver names short and descriptive. For more on drivers, see Using Drivers for Conditional Logic.
