The Welcome email is triggered when a respondent saves the first page of an assessment that was started via an external link. If the Welcome email is not sending, the issue is almost always one of three causes:
- The Email Address question is not on the first page. The Welcome email is triggered by the system capturing the respondent's email address when they save page 1, so the email question must appear on Section 1 of the assessment. If it is on a later section, the trigger never fires.
- The Email Address question is not linked to the Email Address Response Setting. Adding an email field to the assessment is not enough on its own. The question must be linked to the system's Email Address response setting so the value is recognized as the respondent's contact email. To check this, open the question and go to the Options tab, then confirm Email Address is selected in the Link to Response Setting dropdown.
- The Welcome email template is not set up or not enabled. Navigate to Assessment Settings > Emails and confirm there is a Welcome email template configured for the assessment. If none exists, no email will send.
Once all three conditions are met, the Welcome email will send automatically when the respondent saves the first page.
