Why isn't my external link creating responses?

If you have set up an External ID and copied the external URL, but clicking the link does not create a response, the most common cause is that Enable External Response Initiation has not been enabled. This checkbox is required for external links to work. It is what tells the system to generate a new response each time the link is clicked.

To enable it:

1. Navigate to Assessment Settings.
2. Tick the Enable External Response Initiation checkbox.
3. Click Save.

Once Enable External Response Initiation is enabled, your existing external URL will start creating responses immediately. You do not need to regenerate or re-copy it.
