When the members of a cohort change between iterations, for example when people join or leave a team after the baseline, the effect on the report depends on what the report displays.
- Cohort averages and totals. Each iteration's results are calculated from the respondents who completed that iteration. A comparison between iterations therefore compares the group as it was at each point in time, not a fixed set of people.
- Respondent-level breakdowns. If the report lists individual respondents for each iteration, for example by name, the changes in membership are visible, because each iteration shows only the people who took part in it.
When you compare a baseline with a later iteration after significant changes in membership, consider noting in the report that the group has changed, so that readers interpret movement in the averages correctly.
