There are two ways to preview an assessment from the respondent's perspective: the Test Response button in the Assessment Builder, and creating a fresh response from the Responses screen.
Option 1: Use the Test Response button in the Builder
The Test Response button is the quickest way to preview the assessment at any point during building.
- Open the assessment in the Assessment Builder.
- At the top of the Builder, click the Test Response button.
- A new browser tab will open displaying the assessment exactly as a respondent would see it.
The Test Response view is identical to the respondent experience, with one exception: the hamburger menu is visible because the assessment is being viewed while logged in as an administrator. Respondents who access the assessment via a normal response link do not see the hamburger menu.
The Test Response button can be used at any time while building, making it convenient for checking layout, conditional logic, scoring flow, or wording adjustments.
Option 2: Create a fresh response from the Responses screen
To experience the assessment exactly as a respondent would, including the invitation email and the start-to-finish flow, create a real response.
- Navigate to the assessment's Responses screen.
- Click Add Response.
- Enter test details, such as a name and email address.
- Open the response in an incognito or private browser window (recommended) so that the assessment is not viewed while signed in as an administrator.
- Complete the assessment as a respondent would.
This method also allows for testing of post-completion behavior, including the Completion email, the feedback report, and any redirect or thank-you page configured for the assessment.
