Everyone’s use of the software will be different, so how they approach the system will vary, but below are guidelines as to how you might start using the software:
- Add an Assessment. This will copy your Template assessment, and launch the assessment builder (Read more about this here: Managing Assessments – Brilliant Assessments)
- In the Assessment Builder: There are several components to an assessment.
- Sections appear as a page both in the assessment builder and responses. Ratings are calculated at this level (as well as an overall rating and subsections.) You can read more about sections here: Add/Modify Sections – Brilliant Assessments
- Subsections are usually hidden from the respondent while completing their response. They are groups of questions that are rated to give a great granularity than sections. There must be at least one subsection of each section. Subsections are important for the building on the feedback report as you can display text based on their rating (score) for the group of questions. You can read more about subsections here: Add/Modify Sub-Sections – Brilliant Assessments
- The Question text appears on the screen. Each Question has a potential score. The total of the Potential scores is divided by the total from the available answers to calculate the score and rating. You can read more on Questions here: Add/Modify Questions – Brilliant Assessments
- Available Answers. Answers may be text, images or a number of other types but are often multi-choice answers. Where they are selectable (multi-choice (single selection), Multiple Choice (multiple selections), Dropdown lists, Rankings) they have a score associated with each answer. A question may appear with no answers if you want it to be a statement rather than a question.
- Instructions may appear before any question. By putting them on the first question, they will appear at the beginning of the response. They may include video and images.
-
Feedback drives the feedback report which the respondent normally receives at the end of completing their response. The feedback report combines several sources:
- Text in the report template.
- Rating, score, and graphics at the overall, section and subsection level.
- Subsection Rating text – text based on the overall rating for each subsection.
- Answer text – text specifically related to an individual answer.
- Text entered into text boxes.
- Set up the Ratings appropriate for the assessment (Read more about Ratings)
- Set up the Graphics for the site and the assessment (Read more about Graphics)
- Set up the Email Template (Read more about Emails)
- Review and set up the other settings (Read more about Settings)
- Create your Results Dashboards (Read more about Results)
- Create and Upload your Report Template onto the assessment table (unless you are only using Results). Details of the merge strings required to create the report are in The Feedback Report Building section. (Read more) You can download an example template from the Help Page to get you started.
- Test your assessment by adding a Response (from the response list screen). You can then view the response from the action menu on the response list. The response will regenerate each time you view it, as will the feedback report.
