If your organization uses allotments and new responses suddenly cannot be created, the most common cause is that the organization's allotment has no available responses left.
When an allotment runs out, the block applies to every method of creating a response: manual entry from the Responses screen, CSV uploads, cohort invitations, and shareable external links. The system will not create a new response under that organization until more allotment is added.
To diagnose:
- From the Assessment Manager menu, open Allotments.
- Find the relevant allotment in the list.
- Check the Available column. If it shows 0, the allotment has been fully consumed.
To resolve, either:
- Add a new allotment. Click Add Allotment and create another one for the same organization (purchased via Stripe, or allocated for free if you are an administrator, see How do I manually allocate responses to an organization without charging them?).
- Top up an existing allotment by editing it and increasing the Responses Required count.
Other possible causes (less common):
- The organization's Response Allotment dropdown was changed (for example, from "Unlimited" to "Are Allocated") and no allotment was created to back it.
- The assessment is no longer available to the organization on the Assessment Availability screen.
