How do I add a child organization or a new organization level?

The Organization structure supports up to five hierarchical levels. For each parent organization, you can add up to four levels of hierarchy underneath.

Organizations are managed at Site Settings > Features > Organizations. Each row in the list has an Actions column containing Edit, Add Child, and Delete, and there is an Add Base Organization button above the list.

Adding a child organization

1. Go to Site Settings > Features > Organizations.
2. Find the row of the organization that will be the parent.
3. Click Add Child in that row's Actions column.
4. Enter the Name of the new organization level.
5. Configure any optional settings if required, for example BCC email address, branding overrides, or allotments. All of these can be left at their defaults.
6. Click Save.

The parent comes from the row you click. The dialog is titled "Add Child to:" followed by the parent's name, and the Parent Organization field is already filled in with that organization. You do not choose the parent inside the dialog. To place the level under a different parent, close the dialog and use Add Child on that organization's row instead.

To create a new top-level organization instead, click Add Base Organization rather than Add Child.

Reading the Organization List

Indentation in the Name column shows the level, and the Parent column names the organization each level sits beneath. A top-level organization has an empty Parent column.

If the Organizations tab is not visible

Organizations are off by default. Go to Site Settings > Features > General and tick the Use Organization checkbox. The Organizations tab then appears under Features.

Linking a cohort or a response to an organization level

When you add a cohort or a response, an Organization field is available on the General tab. If the organization has child levels, you are prompted to select the level. The field appears only once an organization structure has been set up.
