Every assessment in Brilliant Assessments can be shared via an external link, a reusable URL that you can post on your website, in a newsletter, or in any other channel. Each time someone clicks the link, the system creates a new unique response.
To set up your external link:
- Open Assessment Settings. Navigate to the assessment and open the Settings screen.

Enter an External ID. In the External ID field, enter a short code that will appear in your URL, for example
leadership-360orwellbeing-survey.- The External ID cannot contain spaces. Use a hyphen (
-) to separate words. - The External ID has a 50 character limit.
- Each assessment must have a unique External ID. If two assessments share the same ID, the system may pick up either one.

- Tick the Auto Create Response checkbox. This is required for the external link to work. It tells the system to automatically create a new response each time the link is clicked.
- Click Save.

Click Copy URL. The Copy URL button next to the External ID field will copy your shareable external link to the clipboard. The URL will look something like
https://yourtenant.brilliantassessments.com?external=leadership-360.
Paste this copied URL directly into your website, email, or other sharing channel.
Important: Save the URL from the Copy URL button. Do not open the link in your browser first and then copy from the address bar. The moment the external URL loads in a browser, the system creates a new unique response and the address bar changes to that response's URL. Copying from the address bar will give you a one-time response link rather than the reusable external link, and anyone you share it with will all land on the same response.
