To restrict a merge string to the responses from one role, add the Identifier parameter and set it to the role name.
{RatingScore.Score[SectionNo=2 Identifier=Manager]}
Points to note:
- Use the role name, not a number. The value is the role exactly as it is named on the cohort role record.
- Replace any spaces with an underscore. A role named "Direct Report" is entered as
Identifier=Direct_Report. - The role must exist on the cohort. If no responses match the role, the merge string returns nothing rather than an error.
- The parameter works on the same merge strings you already use. Add it alongside your existing Section, Subsection, or Question parameters. It filters which responses are used, not what is displayed.
You can add Identifier through the Merge Manager rather than typing it. From Options, choose Filter by Role, then enter the role in the Role field.
Comparing one role against another
To compare one role against another, rather than filtering to a single role, use the difference metric with a base role. In the Merge Manager, choose Options > Differences, then Difference Between Roles, then set the base role under Options > Base Role. This adds the following parameters:
Metric=DiffReportId BaseIdentifier=Self
The result is positive where the role scores above the base role, and negative where it scores below. Normally a rating type is configured specifically for reporting differences, so that the rating bands cover a negative-to-positive range.
