Charts & Graphs Available for Reports

Brilliant Assessments offers a wide range of chart and graph types for your feedback reports and results dashboards. Use this page to explore what's available and find the right chart for your reporting needs.

Charts are added to your Word report template using merge strings. If you're new to building reports, start with Building Feedback Report Templates in Microsoft Word.

Comparing Scores Across Sections or Questions

Use these charts when you want to show how scores compare across multiple sections, subsections, questions, or segmentations.

Chart Type	Preview	Description
Vertical Bar Charts		Compare scores side by side. Supports percentage and Likert-style scoring.
Horizontal Bar Charts		Same as vertical bars but horizontal, giving more room for longer labels.
Spider Charts		Show scores on a web/radar layout. Good for seeing the overall shape of results at a glance.
Polar Charts		Similar to spider charts but with a polar grid layout.
Line Charts		Show scores as connected points. Useful for showing trends or patterns across categories.
Area Charts		Filled version of line charts. Good for visual emphasis.

Displaying a Single Score

Use these charts when you want to highlight one score, such as an overall assessment score, a single section, or subsection.

Chart Type	Preview	Description
Gauges (Donut Charts)		Show a score as a colored donut with the value in the center. Color reflects the rating. Most popular for overall scores.
Progress Bars		Show a score as a horizontal fill bar. Good for showing rating visually rather than an exact number.
Pie Charts		Compare the proportion of scores across sections or segmentations. Also used in cohort reports to show the count of responses per rating.

Benchmark and Cohort Comparisons

Use these charts when you need to show a respondent's results alongside benchmarks, or compare multiple respondents or roles within a cohort.

Chart Type	Preview	Description
Multi Vertical Bar Charts		Side-by-side bars comparing response results with benchmarks or cohort members.
Multi Horizontal Bar Charts		Horizontal version, with more room for labels.
Bar On Bar Charts		Overlay a single response on top of a benchmark or team result. Popular for 360 reports.
Multi Spider Charts		Overlay multiple data sets on a spider chart (e.g., self vs. benchmark).
Multi Polar Charts		Overlay multiple data sets on a polar chart.
Multi-Line Charts		Compare multiple data sets as line charts.
Stacked Bar and Column Charts		Show the distribution of responses by rating within a cohort. Useful for seeing how many respondents fell into each rating band.

Distribution and Correlation

Use these charts for more advanced analysis.

Chart Type	Preview	Description
Histograms		Show how cohort scores are distributed across rating ranges. Good for identifying clusters and outliers.
Scatterplots		Plot two metrics against each other to show correlation. Supports background images for context (e.g., a 2x2 matrix).
Circumplex Charts		Plot results on a circular axis. Used for models where categories wrap around (e.g., leadership styles).

Use tables when you need to show detailed data or many data points at once.
