AI Discuss is an interactive chat tile on a Results Dashboard. Instead of only reading their feedback, respondents can ask questions about their results in natural language and get conversational answers grounded in their own scores and rating text.
Important: AI Discuss is only available on Results Dashboards. It does not render in Word or PDF feedback reports.
AI Discuss is available in two scopes, each configured separately:
- Individual operates on a single respondent's data.
- Cohort operates on aggregated cohort data (for example, a 360, group, team, or iterative report).
Setup happens in two places:
- Assessment Builder. Inside an AI Individual or AI Cohort section, click Add AI Discuss and write the prompt that governs the AI's behavior, tone, and boundaries.
- Results Dashboard. Add a tile, set its MergeType to AI Discuss, and select the AI Discuss item you created in the Builder.
What information can AI Discuss use?
This is the most important point to understand, and a common source of confusion: AI Discuss only knows what you give it in the prompt.
- It does not read what is displayed in the tile, and it does not matter where you position the tile on the dashboard.
- It does not automatically have access to the respondent's scores, ratings, or answers.
- The only data it can discuss is the data you feed into the prompt using merge strings.
So if you want respondents to be able to ask about their scores, you must include the relevant score and rating text merge strings in the prompt. For example, include section, subsection, and segmentation scores, and the rating text for each, so the AI can reference them when answering. Whatever you put in the prompt is what the AI can talk about; anything you leave out, it cannot see.
Example prompt
This individual-scope starter prompt feeds the AI the full set of scores and personalizes the conversation. Adapt the merge strings and tone to your assessment:
You are a leadership assessment results assistant helping {Response.FirstName}
understand their results.
Here are their results to base your answers on:
{Tables[SectionNo=ALL SubSectionNo=ALL QuestionNo=ALL]}
Section rating feedback: {RatingSection.RatingText[SectionNo=ALL]}
Base every answer only on the results above.
Confidentiality:
- Discuss only this respondent's results.
- If asked about another person, politely decline and redirect to their own results.
Tone and format:
- Be brief and focused. Use short paragraphs and bullet points.
- Bold key terms or section names so the answer is easy to scan.
Two practices matter most when writing any AI Discuss prompt:
- Confidentiality. Instruct the AI to discuss only the appropriate results and to decline questions about other individuals, even when asked by name.
- Brevity. Instruct the AI to keep replies short and focused so they fit the chat tile and feel conversational.
Tip: test your prompt before publishing. When you create the AI Discuss in the Builder, you can test the prompt against an existing response and ask questions the way a respondent would. This lets you see exactly what information it replies with, confirm it can access the scores and feedback you intended, and tweak the prompt and merge strings until the answers are right.
