Overview
You can charge respondents for different actions within Brilliant Assessments, including:
- Responding to an assessment
- Creating a cohort (cohort initiation)
- Running follow-up cohort iterations
- Producing an additional feedback report (typically as a paid upgrade to a simpler free report)
Customers or partners can also purchase responses using Allotments, which are commonly used for B2B or partner licensing models.
Credit card processing is integrated with Stripe. To enable payments, you must first complete the Stripe integration. Read more about setting up Stripe.
Charging for a Response
You can require respondents to pay before starting an assessment.
- Enable credit card payment on the Assessment Settings → Credit Card tab . When enabled, you will be prompted to enter the charge amount and currency.
-
Responses can be initiated either:
- Via a link from your website, or
- By sending individual invitations through the system
In both cases, the respondent is prompted to complete payment before accessing the assessment.
- After successful payment, the response opens normally and the assessment proceeds as usual.
You can customize the credit card screen instructions using Site Text with a type of Credit Card.
Receipts are generated by Stripe and sent using the email address provided during checkout.
- You can also sell assessments via the Available Assessments screen. Selecting Buy Now prompts payment before the response is created.
- Alternatively, you may charge externally and use the API to initiate responses automatically. This is useful when assessments are bundled with other products or when pricing needs to remain flexible.

- Instructions for the payment screen can be added using Site Text with a type of Credit Card.
- Stripe generates receipts using the purchaser’s email address.
- You can configure an email (template type: Cohort Paid) to send payment confirmation and a re-access link to the cohort initiator.
