Circumplex Charts Instructions for Reports
This chart is generated by:
- Getting a background (or foreground) made by a Graphic Designer (an example is attached)
- Create a Polar Chart. For the examples a and b above, the following options were taken in the Merge Manager
- Height = 650.
- Title Rules = None
- Display Labels = Labels
- Font Size = 16
- Y Axis Maximum = 100
- Y Axis Increment = 25
- Position the image behind or in front of the merge string using MS Word's Picture Tools "Wrap Text" Function. Usually, a bit of trial and error is required to get the position perfect.
Circumplex Charts Instructions for a results page:
- Get a background image made by a graphic designer, to make it easy you can use the same dimensions as our template attached at the bottom of the article.
- Create or edit a Results page.
These are the exact steps we used to create circumplex chart c. at the top of the article.
- Head to Graphics> save your background image as ‘Assessment body’ graphic type.
- Create a Container and drag and drop a ½ size tile into it.
- Create a polar chart on either sections, subsections, segmentations or questions.
- We’ve used subsections and set the color of every subsection in the assessment builder.
Note: you can set the colour of each segment of the polar chart for segmentations, sections and subsections, however, if you want each question to be a different color you will need to create a segmentation for each question. - To achieve this circumplex we chose these parameters:
{Polar[SegG=8 SegmentationNo=ALL Label=Y FontSize=6 YAxisMax=100 YAxisInc=101 Legend=N Title=N Label=Y BackgroundGraphic=63871 BackgroundGraphicYRatio=1.20 BackgroundGraphicXRatio=1.20 BackgroundGraphicIsCircle=true Gridlines=X]}
To select the parameters, choose:
| From the Options drop-down, select: | Parameter entered or selected |
| Font | 6 |
| Set the Y axis Maximum | 100 |
| Set the Y axis Increment | 1 |
| Set the Background image | Select the image you uploaded |
| Display Labels | Display Labels |
| Legend Rules | None |
| Title Rules | None |
| Gridlines | Remove Radial Lines |
Then you need to add some parameters directly to the merge string. Copy and paste:
BackgroundGraphicYRatio=1.20 BackgroundGraphicXRatio=1.20 BackgroundGraphicIsCircle=true
- Ensure there’s a space between the last parameter you created in the merge string and the ones you pasted.
- Ensure there is no space between the last parameter and the ]}.
