Polar Charts are used to show several sections/ subsections/ questions / segmentations comparatively. Charts can be either based on percentage scores or the average actual score (Likert style reporting).
This is an example of a chart using percentages, with Labels.
The color of the segments is normally determined by the rating - although this can be overridden if a specific color is associated with a section subsection or segmentation. Polar Charts have a transparent background.
This is an example of a chart showing the average actual points (Likert style) with Labels and the Decimals parameter set to 2.

How to | Using the Merge Manager | Parameter | Notes |
Show scores as a percentage | From "Display" select Percentage | (none) | Percentage scores will be displayed by default. |
Show scores as an average value (Likert Style) | From "Display" select Average Score (Likert Style) | ShowActual=Y | Show the average of the points scored for all questions included in the selection. |
Use ratings from an Advanced rating type. | From "Rating Type" choose the Rating Type to be used. | RatingType=n | n=Rating Type ID from Advanced ratings screen. |
Show the score on each mark (percentage or actual score). | From "Advanced" choose Display Labels. From "Display Labels" select Labels. |
Label=Y | Labels show the mark value in the Display Format (percentages or actual scores). |
Show decimals on the score (both the label, if one is shown and the size of the mark) | From "Advanced" choose Set the Decimals. In "Decimals" enter the number of decimal places. |
Decimals=n | The number of decimal places for the Axis and the label (if any) |
Set the height of the graphic (overriding the default) | From "Advanced" choose Height. In "Height" enter the height required in pixels. |
Height=nnn | The height of the graphic. If the Width is not specified the system will calculate the width proportionately. The default height is 500 pixels. |
Set the Width of the graphic (overriding the default) | From "Advanced" choose Width. In "Width" enter the width required in pixels. |
Width=nnn | The Width of the graphic. If the Height is not specified the system will use the default height. The default width is 500 pixels. |
Display a benchmark made up of all previous responses where the response Classifier = the benchmark Classifier | From "Advanced" choose Benchmark 1. From "Benchmark 1" select the required group, either All Responses or filtered by Classifier. |
BM1=n | n = 0 for All Responses. Otherwise n= the Classifier No (from the Classifier table) |
Display a second benchmark made up of all previous responses where the response Classifier = the benchmark Classifier | From "Advanced" choose Benchmark 2. From "Benchmark 2" select the required group, either All Responses or filtered by Classifier. |
BM2=n | n = 0 for All Responses. Otherwise n= the Classifier No (from the Classifier table) |
Display a third benchmark made up of all previous responses where the response Classifier = the benchmark Classifier | From "Advanced" choose Benchmark 3. From "Benchmark 3" select the required group, either All Responses or filtered by Classifier. |
BM3=n | n = 0 for All Responses. Otherwise n= the Classifier No (from the Classifier table) |
Specify the Colors for the chart | From "Advanced" choose Set the chart colors. In "Set the chart colors" enter the Hex code for the colors, separated by a comma. |
Chartcolors=CCCCCC,F0F0F0 | Specify the hex code for the colors for the chart, separated by a comma. They will be used in the order they appear. If there are more marks than colors, the defaults will be used. |
Cohort GroupingsNote: Separate Graphs will be shown for each cohort group. To show the cohort groups on one chart, use the Multi merge type. |
