Brilliant Assessments allow you to show a percentage score or an Average Likert score.
If you want to show a total or sum score you need to use a calculation that will place the result into a segmentation you have created for this purpose. An example is if you wanted to show they scored 189 out of the 220 points rather than showing 85.9% or the average likert score.
In this example we only want to show the assessment total score - the technique is the same for subsection/section and segmentation scores too; you just need a segmentation to hold each score and a calculation to populate the segmentation.
Step 1 Create a Segmentation
Read Segmentations for information on how to do this.
Step 2 Create a Calculation
Read Calculations for information on how to do this. The calculation should be placed at the bottom of the last section of the assessment. It is often a good idea to create a section at the end and select the Calculation in Report checkbox on the Section.
The calculation will multiply the score (which is held as a percentage, for example, .85. You multiply the percentage score by the total possible score to get the response score. (In our example, the Total Possible score is 220.)
Notes:
- Enter the Total Possible score in the Max Points field
- Select Calculate After Scoring
- Create a Calculation to multiply the Assessment score by the Total Possible score.
- Link the to the Segmentation created to hold the result.
Step 3 Show the result in the report
Use any of the Chart or Score Merge Types to present the score from the Segmentation. Use the Average score parameter. As the Segmentation is only linked to one calculation the average will be the value calculated. Benchmarking will work as normal.
