Overview
This article covers the basic steps to manually launching a cohort in the system.
It takes you through creating the cohort, completing the key settings, adding respondents, and sending invitations so that your cohort can start collecting responses.

1. Create the cohort
Head to Cohorts from the main menu and click Add Cohort.
2. Complete the General tab
In the General tab, fill out these fields:
| 1. Assessment | From the drop down list, select the assessment the cohort is for. |
| 2. Subject Email Address | Enter the email address for the subject or the contact. This is the email address of the person who will receive the cohort report. |
| 3. Subject / Subject first name |
The name of the cohort. For an Individual or 360 cohort, this will be the first name. For Groups, it should be the name of the group. |
| Subject last name | Only appears for 360 or individual cohorts. Enter the last name of the subject. |
| Contact first name | For group assessments. The first name of the cohort contact. |
| Contact last name | For group assessments. The last name of the cohort contact. |
| Business name | Enter a business name if needed. If you have a question in the assessment with a Question Short Name of "Business name" this field will be copied across. |
| Organization | If needed, select an organization from the drop down list. |
| Completion date |
Enter a closing date. The cohort report will be produced after this date, provided the required number of responses have been received. If there are not enough responses immediately after the completion date the system will keep checking it daily (for a maximum of two months) until the minimum number of responses has been reached. |
Then press Save.
3. Review Iterations, Options, and Drivers
Skip across the Iterations and Options tabs. These tabs are generally auto populated by the system and only need to be changed in some situations.
If you have cohort drivers enabled for this assessment, select the drivers you are using for this assessment.
4. Add respondents
Go to the Respondents tab to add your respondents. Alternatively, go to the Anonymous URLs tab if you are sending out an anonymous URL link.
4a. Manually add respondents
To manually add respondents, click Add Respondent and fill out these fields:
- First name
- Last name
- Role
4b. Upload respondents via CSV
To upload the respondents via a CSV, click CSV Template to download the template. Then fill out columns for each respondent and save the document as a .csv.

| Role |
Enter the cohort role of the respondent. Tip: ensure the role name matches the system exactly. |
| Admin entry classifiers | If you have admin entry classifiers enabled, you can enter the classifier value here. |
Upload by clicking the Upload button and following the prompts.
5. Send invitations
Send the invitations by pressing Send Invitations. This will send the welcome emails to your respondents.
