A. Accessing the Design Tab
To access the Design settings:
- Go to Administer > Site Settings
- Click on the Design tab
B. Branding Colors
The Design tab provides options to customize colors across different areas of your platform. These color settings control the visual appearance of portals and administrative interfaces.
1-Respondent Portal Top Banner Color
Specify the color code for the banner at the top of the respondent portal. This banner appears at the very top of the screen when respondents access assessments.
Normally this would match the background color of the logo or image you specify for the top of the respondent portal screen. The banner will be the full width of the screen
💡 Tip: To add a logo or header image to the respondent portal, add an entry to the Media tab (if enabled) or graphic table with the type of Respondent Header. The top banner color should complement or match the background of your header image for a cohesive look.
2-Respondent Portal Bottom Banner Color
Specify the color code for the banner at the bottom of the respondent portal. This banner appears at the very bottom of the screen in the respondent experience.
3-Default Color
This is the color used by the administration and assessment managers portal. This color will be used for buttons, headers, and key interface elements
4-Menu Color
This is the color used by the administration and assessment managers portal for the left-hand menu. This is the navigation menu that appears on the left side of the screen with options like Assessment Manager, Administer, Responses, Cohorts, etc.
5-Default Background Color
This is the background color of your assessment.
6-Hide Empty Response
When enabled, responses that are "Not Started" and contain no name or email address will be hidden from the response and cohort respondent lists. These entries are typically created when a user clicks a shareable link but exits before entering any data.
C. Fonts
The Fonts section allows you to upload custom fonts to be embedded in PDF reports generated by your assessments.
How Font Embedding Works
Fonts uploaded in the Design tab can be embedded in PDF reports to ensure consistent branding and typography across all assessment reports. Once fonts are uploaded here, they need to be selected at the assessment level to be embedded in that assessment's report PDFs.
Uploading Fonts
To upload a font:
- Click Add Font or similar button in the Fonts section
- Name the Font: Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "Company Heading Font", "Report Body Font")
- Upload the font file: Select the font file from your computer
Supported font formats include:
- TTF (TrueType Font)
- OTF (OpenType Font)
- WOFF (Web Open Font Format)
- And other standard font formats
Enabling Fonts in Assessment Reports
After uploading fonts to Site Settings:
- Go to the Assessment Settings for the specific assessment
- Find the font embedding option (typically in the report or design settings)
- Select which uploaded fonts should be embedded in PDF reports for that assessment
- All reports generated for that assessment will have the selected fonts embedded
Note: Bullet point 10 in the Assessment Settings help article shows the assessment setting to enable embedding fonts into the PDF.
D. Preview and Testing
After making design changes:
- Preview the respondent portal to see how banner colors appear with your header/footer images
- Check the administrative interface to ensure menu and default colors are readable
- Generate sample PDF reports to verify font embedding is working correctly
- View on multiple devices to ensure colors display consistently
