Setting Up Brilliant Assessments to Use Your Domain

It is an option to have Brilliant Assessments use a subdomain of your own domain rather than a subdomain of brilliantassessments.com. Once this change is made, there will be no reference to Brilliant Assessments anywhere on your site.

If you wish to do this, it is recommended to set it up shortly after moving to a paid subscription, because all existing links (including response emails) will break once the domain changes. The steps are:

• In your DNS (Domain Name Services), create an A record for the subdomain you want to use, then add the value 35.182.221.237. For example:

  Type: A  
  Host: assess  
  Value: 35.182.221.237  
  TTL: Default or 300

  The subdomain (host) name can be anything (for example assess or assessment). The final URL will become https://assess.[yourdomain].com. Note: It must be an A record. A CNAME record will not work.

• Email Support@brilliantassessments.com to advise what new domain you have configured.
• Our team will complete the switch outside business hours. This is usually done within 24 hours. We will notify you once complete. There is no charge for this service and it is included in all paid plans.

• NOTE: Once the changeover is confirmed, you must update any images used in:

  • Email templates
  • Assessment question instructions

  These images still reference the old domain in their URLs. The simplest fix is to delete and re-add the images using the new domain. Read more about Email Templates.
